====== Allegro Messaging System ======

The //Allegro messaging system// allows us to quickly reach all users of the Allegro computers. It contains two main features, namely the //Login Message// and the //E-Mail// notification for critical events.

===== Login Message =====

The login message informs you about

  * changes in the software (e.g., new CASA versions)
  * maintenance

You can display the login message by simply calling :

<note important>
If you have sourced the default Allegro rc files (See Section [[allegrouserguide:computers#setup_scripts|Setup scripts]]), the login messages will be displayed by default every time you log in.

===== E-Mail =====

Critical system changes (e.g., reboots) are also announced through eMail a few days in advance. You have then time to object, if you have important jobs running on our computers, which cannot be delayed. Just contact us if that happens.

==== Opt out from E-Mail message ====

If you do not want to be informed through email, you can opt out from that by sending a request to <alma@strw.leidenuniv.nl>
