"The Amazing Zoo of Extrasolar Planets" is this year's prestigeous Sackler Lecture, given by Didier Queloz at Leiden Observatory:

Searches for planets around other stars reveal a wide diversity of planetary configurations. The recent detection of super-Earth mass planets orbiting solar type stars, and the high fraction of hot inflated Jupiters has created the study of "comparative exo-planetology" with its field the diversity of planetary formation scenarios. The lecture will also cover the detection of and characterization of small planets, and the prospects of detecting Earth-like planets.

Dr. Queloz is on the faculty of Geneva University and participated in the discovery of dozens of extrasolar planets.

The colloquium will be held on December 8 at 16:00 hour in the Sitterzaal.
