I'm a master student in astronomy. I first came to the university of Leiden in 2004 to start my bachelor studies in astronomy. I finished it in 2007 and continued with the Master of Astronomy.
Besides following courses, you also learn to do research. By far the nicest part of the job! Of course, in the beginning this is mainly reproducing earlier obtained results guided by a 'recipe'. This recipe however gets more and more stained and thus unreadable as you progress in your studies, until at last you'll have to think up your own recipe and decide for yourself how to do your research. Starting with the Bachelor Research project in the last year of the bachelor studies, the research projects actually turn into real science!
